FRANCE
Lycée Vincent d’Indy
The Lycée Vincent d'Indy is located in Privas, a very small town in a
rural area in the South-East of France, at equal distance from Lyon and
Marseille, near the Rhone Valley. The department of Ardèche, which used
to be an industrial and agricultural area, is now turning to tourism and
services. Our school caters for various
social, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The students have access to
general and vocational trainings. The pupils also have the possibility
to learn up to 4 foreign languages (English, Spanish, Italian and
German) and to be involved in cultural exchanges with European
countries. However some of them cannot afford to participate in those
exchanges for financial reasons. Moreover it is one of our school's
priorities to promote European citizenship through establishing
international links. In addition to compulsory
classes, our pupils take part in Arts and Drama classes in partnership
with Privas's theatre. The school regularly welcomes authors and
artists, which is part of the school policy as well as the organisation
of events concerning sustainable development and the environment.

The Comenius programme focuses on the first phase of education, from pre-school and primary to secondary schools. It is relevant for all members of the education community: pupils, teachers, local authorities, parents’ associations, non-government organisations, teacher training institutes, universities and all other educational staff.
